A 104-Year-Old’s Secret… (04:48)

My great-uncle lived to 104 years old with sharp cognition and vibrant health. His three key habits? Managing stress, drinking green tea daily, and staying physically and socially active. He sipped freshly picked green tea all day, let go of anger instead of holding onto resentment, and stayed engaged in his community—walking to meet friends daily. These habits align with modern research on longevity and well-being.

The Gut Microbiome & Aging (16:17)

A study in Italy found that people over 100 years old had higher levels of specific gut bacteria that may play a role in healthy aging. These microbes help lower inflammation, fight harmful bacteria like E. coli, and support metabolism and cholesterol balance. And guess what? You can nourish these beneficial microbes by eating a diverse diet rich in fiber, fermented foods, and polyphenols.

Your Brain Has Its Own Microbiome (25:24)

Here’s a mind-blowing fact: The brain has its own microbiome. About 20% of the bacteria in the gut can also be found in the brain, highlighting the deep gut-brain connection. This opens the door for new research into how gut health might influence conditions like neurodegenerative diseases and cognitive decline. Could probiotics play a role in brain health? It’s an exciting field to watch.
